Tyvek® is a synthetic material made from continuous, fine filaments of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) that are randomly distributed and non-directional.
Is Tyvek® breathable?
Tyvek® is breathable, allowing water vapor and gases to pass through. It has a much higher moisture vapor permeability than plastic films.
What grades of Tyvek does Technipaq offer?
We offer Tyvek® 1073B, 1059B, and 2FS for healthcare packaging applications. These Tyvek® healthcare styles provide exceptional microbial performance, outstanding tear strength and puncture resistance, and are compatible with a broad range of sterilization methods.
What is your specialized coating for Techni-Coat?
TC-101, our specialized coating applied in our Techni-Coat process, is a heat seal adhesive that can be applied to Tyvek(R) 1073B, 1059B, and 2FS materials. This adhesive supports a consistent clean peel and is highly durable, supporting a breathable sterile barrier with enhanced microbial barrier properties.
How best to seal Tyvek lids to thermoform trays?
Tyvek lids are sealed to trays using a heat-sealing machine. Depending on your needed throughput you might like a shuttle machine or a form-fill-seal machine.
What is the shelf life of Tyvek®?
Tyvek® can be stored indoors for many years if temperature and humidity are controlled. Avoid storing it in direct sunlight.
What is the shelf life of Tyvek with TC-101 coatings applied?
The shelf life of Tyvek® products coated with TC-101 varies by the product and type of application, but it is shelf stable for a range of 2-5 years
